To provide opportunity for students to ask relevant questions, to pose and define problems, to plan what to do and how to research, to predict outcomes and anticipate consequences, and to test conclusions and improve ideas. To provide a platform for more student-directed inquiry To allow students to gather sources using different modes of research. To give insight as to how history can possibly be used in the community to enhance the relevance of history to students. To develop skills and values that cannot be wholly assessed through conventional pen-and-paper assessment modes as students are required to integrate the knowledge, skills and values learnt and demonstrate them in the classroom. To provide students with the opportunity to practise and demonstrate the 21st Century Competencies to become informed, concerned and participative citizens. |

A day is set aside in the calendar for the department to organize the following activities for the students during the Humanities Day: Daily trivia Humanities Quiz/ Games for lower secondary classes Virtual/Actual Amazing Race for upper secondary classes Screening of Movies |

Humanities Competitions |
To provide platform for students to share about National Education issues as they grapple with matters pertaining to nationalism and national interest in the world community To promote analytical thinking To build up the confidence in articulating thoughts and ideas To provide platforms for students to engage with historians and have a discussion on a broad range of historical issues. To engage, empower and educate students on local and global issues and highlight the omnipresence of Geography in our everyday lives. To encourage students to embark on independent learning. |
