Character and Citizenship Education & Pupil Well-being

To develop AMKsians to be responsible, resilient and caring citizens with integrity.

The goal of CCE is to inculcate values and build competencies in our pupils to develop them into good individuals and useful citizens.

In CCE, our pupils learn to be responsible to family and community; and understand their roles in shaping the future of Singapore.

R3ICH Awards

In order to recognize exemplary students of character who demonstrate the school values, R3ICH Awards are presented to the deserving students. The R3ICH Awards are given out twice a year on a semestral basis. Students who exemplify the R3ICH (Respect; Responsibility; Resilience; Integrity; Compassion; Harmony) are nominated by their teachers. The award aims to encourage more students to emulate the good and desired behaviour of the R3ICH award winners and for all students to internalize our R3ICH values.

Education and Career Guidance

  • To equip pupils with knowledge, skills and attitudes that will enable them to cope with change, adapt and make informed education and career choices.

Activities and Initiatives

  • Education & Career Guidance Lessons
  • Career Education Talks conducted by Institutes of Higher Learning
  • Learning journeys to JCs, Polytechnics and ITEs
  • Career Conference for Sec 4E/5NA pupils
  • ECG Counselling
In the course of each student’s journey in AMKSS, they will go through a series of Values-in-Action activities that will expose the students to serving the community. It is our belief that every student can be an active and compassionate contributor to society. Students will have the opportunity to experience a variety of themes, such as environment, elderly, children and social needs, to have a better understanding of the felt needs of the community.

Activities include:

  • Exposure to gardening and maintenance of the My First Skool Garden
  • Beach cleaning
  • Interaction with Elderly of AWWA home
  • Tray Return Initiative
  • Food Drive Collection
  • Food Drive management with Food from the Heart
  • Recycling project
  • Trigenerational Homecare with NUS Medical School
  • CCA-organised VIA activities
  • Self-Initiated VIA Activities

National Education

The school’s National Education programme is anchored on the following citizenship dispositions:

  • A sense of belonging
  • A sense of reality
  • A sense of hope
The school celebrates the four National Education Commemorative Days in a year: Total Defence Day, International Friendship Day, Racial Harmony Day and National Day. Activities are carefully planned to guide students to deepen their understanding of the citizenship dispositions and to apply it in their journey as AMKsians. Beyond the commemorative days, students will also be exposed to current affairs through their lessons and also on learning journeys organised by the school or their CCAs.
