The Ang Mo Kio Secondary School Concert Band offers Amksians a platform to explore and develop their musical passions. While many view music making as an innate talent, we believe it is truly about dedication, passion and a willingness to learn—qualities that our Band seeks to cultivate in its members.
This year has been particularly eventful and fulfilling for the Concert Band. Apart from having the privilege of performing at the Esplanade Concert Hall as part of the ‘Esplanade Presents Limelight’ series this year, the Concert Band was also invited to take part in this year’s National Day Parade 2024. As part of the National Day Parade this year, a selected group of 30 band members participated in the Military Tattoo, where they trained intensively from May to August, learning to march in formation alongside three other schools as well as the Singapore Armed Forces Band.
In addition to these significant events, the band furthermore had opportunities to showcase its talents at our school’s Annual Speech Day (Awards Day) and the biennial arts performances, NOMAD. With more concerts on the horizon, we are excited for what’s next to come for our dedicated musicians.
