At the Modern Dance Club, we are dedicated to nurturing and developing versatile performers who use dance as a powerful medium for self-expression. Through dance, students are empowered to express their emotions and personal stories through movement and rhythm. Students who undergo the dance training programme will be exposed to four key learning experiences: Presenting, Responding, Appreciating and Creating. Besides showcasing their skills to a variety of audiences, they will also be trained to think critically about artistic works, relate aesthetically, affectively, and cognitively to the dance art form and the contexts of artistic works as well as explore and experiment with the art form.
This year, the Modern Dance Club has been on a thrilling journey, showcasing their passion and talent across various events. From the vibrant CCA Open House to the prestigious annual Awards Day, our dancers have captivated audiences with their emotive performances. At the NOMAD and AMKsian Showcase, they brought energy and creativity to the stage, leaving a lasting impression on everyone. Dancers are also given the opportunity to hone their leadership skills through various roles and responsibilities. By facilitating dance trials and training juniors, they not only refine their technical skills but also develop essential leadership qualities such as communication and teamwork. Student leaders play a pivotal role in organising key events like the Senior Farewell and ensuring the smooth operation of the dance club’s activities. Additionally, selected student leaders are given the chance to attend leadership courses such as the AMPLIFIED! DanceLab24: Youth Leadership Dance Camp, where they further enhance their leadership abilities and gain new insights to inspire and lead their peers effectively.
With each performance, we strive to move hearts and inspire others through our dance. As we continue to embrace new opportunities and challenges, our dancers remain committed to telling stories with their hearts through movement. Here’s to another year of breaking boundaries, embracing the art of becoming, and inspiring through dance!
