Unit Overall Proficiency Award: Gold |
Every Friday, cadets of The Ang Mo Kio NPCC come together for their weekly training. The juniors eagerly await the training planned for them, while the seniors look forward to imparting their knowledge to their juniors.
Our core activities include foot drills, camp craft and physical training. Foot drills teach cadets how to recognise, understand, follow and give military commands. Through foot drills, cadets learn the importance of teamwork, discipline and alertness. During camp craft lessons, cadets learn to pitch tents, flagpoles and tie knots. These skills are used during the annual Pulau Ubin Adventure-Survival Training Camp, Inter-Unit Camp Craft Competition, and are useful in many daily situations. Physical training such as cardio exercises ensures that cadets are healthy and active. We also often arrange regular friendly games which enable the entire unit to bond.
Besides the weekly training, cadets also attend courses such as Crime Scene Investigation (CSI), Basic Law, Anti-Drug Abuse and Homefront Security at the Home Team Academy and school exchanges. The Secondary 2 and 3 cadets always look forward to the annual 0.22 Revolver Live Shoot. Our cadets often participate in other meaningful and enjoyable enrichment activities such as a rigorous two day 1 Star Kayaking Course, hiking in our beautiful reserves and volunteering at soup kitchens.
We are proud and extremely delighted to be awarded Gold in the annual Unit Overall Proficiency Award for 2019. It signifies the excellence in standard of the trainings and activities that are planned for our NPCC cadets. The cadets are guided by our passionate and committed Cadet Inspectors, who also facilitate many of the trainings.
